How much does the "so-and-so" flag cost?

The price of a flag depends on its complexity. If you compare the price of a 3x5' Irish flag to the price of a 3x5' Turkmenistan (shown below) - you can see why there is a price difference. The Irish flag consists of just three vertical stripes, whereas the flag of Turkmenistan is much more intricate and expensive to construct. Availability and demand also play a factor in pricing.

What size flag should I get?

This is a very frequently asked question.
The answer depends on how you will use the flag. If you plan on putting it on a flagpole, then there is a rule of thumb that you can use. Generally, the short end of the flag should be 1/5th of the overall height of the pole. This is for vertical poles only.
Example: a 20' tall pole would need a (20 ÷ 5 = 4) 4x6' flag.

For other poles (either angled, or coming away from a building) keep in mind the height of the flag, and of course, the distance at which it will be viewed. If you plan on using the flag indoors, viewing distance is also important. As always, if you're still unsure about the size flag you need, please contact us, and we'll help.

How do I put together an indoor flag setup?

Many people call us, needing to put together a flag setup that will be used in a judge's office, for a political rally, or any other formal event or setting. In this case, you'll need the following items:

  1. An indoor flag with a polehem.
(That's the sleeve on one end of the flag that the pole slides into.
  2. A pole.
We recommend for a formal occasion or event, that you purchase our Jointed Oak Poles; they're made of varnished, dark oak wood, with brass fittings.
  3. A pole ornament.
Also called a "finial", this ornament is attached to the top of your pole. For the American flag, an eagle is typically used. State flags usually get a spear top. Some finials are used for religious flags, like the Star of David, or the Catholic Cross.
  4. Cord and tassels.
This is a golden cord with a rich, beautiful tassel at the end. It's used to dress up a formal flag display.
  5. A base.
This is the stand that the pole sits in. They are typically available in different weights, styles and colors.

I have a question about flag etiquette.

It is important to remember that although a flag may not mean anything to you, it definitely has meaning for someone else. That's why when multiple international flags are used at one event, be sure that all the flags being used are given the proper respect. There are rules governing the proper use and handling of the American flag. To get detailed answers to these questions, please visit the flag etiquette page, or contact us.

How do I submit or prepare artwork? -or- I have no artwork! What do I do?!

There are so many answers to the first question, that we created the 'Preparing Artwork' page.

The second question has only one answer: don't worry.
You don't need to have artwork. We can work with you on whatever artwork you do have, or help you develop what you need. Some banners and flags don't even require it. Contact us, and we'll guide you through the process.
